If you enter Grand Central from New Street, you'll find the old concrete ramp that used to link the Pallasades shopping centre is still there. Beloved of Brummies for decades, the ramp is a whisper of old Birmingham. As I sat on a leather upholstered chair, sipping saffron lemonade and popping calamares into my mouth at Tapas Revolution, I reflected how the city has changed in recent years....

Inspired by the tapas bars of Madrid, this small chain has arrived in Birmingham after openings in London's Shoreditch and Westfield. The brains behind the business is TV chef Omar Allibhoy - Spain's answer to Jamie Oliver, complete with scooter and obligatory bushy beard. The food is very very good.
