OMAR ALLIBHOY TO OPEN THIRD TAPAS REVOLUTION IN SHOREDITCH – FEBRUARY


Spanish chef Omar Allibhoy will be bringing a taste of the real Spain to Shoreditch next February, with the opening of his third tapas bar, Tapas Revolution on Bethnal Green Road.

Omar’s latest tapas opening will continue the Spanish food mission that he and his team began with the critically acclaimed Tapas Revolution in Westfield London (Shepherd’s Bush), and Tapas Revolution in Bluewater (Kent). 

Tapas Revolution Shoreditch will be Omar’s personal interpretation of the lively and bustling tapas bars in his hometown of Madrid. This contemporary Spanish tapas bar will be open for all-day dining and offer fresh, high quality tapas, using ingredients Omar has sourced from across Spain. 

The menu will be simply divided into four sections; meat, fish, vegetables and egg dishes. Regional and seasonal sharing specials will be displayed on a large board and ‘Paella los Jueves’ will be honoured – a nationwide tradition in Spain of serving paella exclusively once a week on Thursday. For those who just want to stop for a quick drink, there will be a selection of Spanish craft beers, an array of soft drinks and wine from small Spanish producers. The wine will be served in a porrón – a traditional wine glass pitcher with a long spout that’s perfect for sharing. 

Designed by Shoreditch based designers Alexander Waterworth Interiors, the signature bar will be copper topped as found in all the Tapas Revolution tapas bars. The open kitchen will be at the heart of everything and visible from the street. The design will feature fresh, urban and contemporary colours combined with more rustic highlights to create an easy all-day atmosphere.

FRAGATA COOKING WITH OMAR - TAPAS REVOLUTION

COOK WITH OMAR - WINNERS COOK UP A TAPAS FEAST

Tapas Revolution and Fragata welcomed the two winners of the "Cook with Omar" competition to Tapas Revolution Westfield. The two lucky budding chefs, Elle Sugden and Eduardo de Felipe, beat many hopefuls and were chosen to participate in a tapas masterclass with Omar. 

Both Eduardo and Elle were thrilled to meet Omar and learn how to cook some of Omar's delicious tapas dishes. After browsing Omar's book, Tapas Revolution Elle and Eduardo chose Bacalao al Pil Pil (cod with garlic sauce), Pollo al Ajillo (garlicky chicken), Chorizo a la Sidra (chorizo with cider) and Tocinillo de Cielo (a Spanish dessert literally translated as 'fat from heaven'). Omar then explained how to create each dish and shared kitchen stories and cooking tips with the winners. After finishing up in the kitchen, Omar and the winners enjoyed a three-course meal, which included the dishes they just learned how to cook. The finished tapas were delicious, and everyone had a great time!

FRAGATA EVENING AT TAPAS REVOLUTION, WESTFIELD

Omar hosted a fantastic evening with Fragata at Tapas Revolution, Westfield.

He cooked up some delicious tapas dishes using Fragata products, which included; Black pudding with green olives, capers and pistachios pate and piri-piri peppers, Pork cheeks braised with olives and capers, and a hot chocolate and Seville orange marmalade fondant.

The awards, known as The LUKAS (www.thelukas.co.uk) are a celebration of Britain’s rapidly growing passion for all things Latino, and Tapas Revolution and Omar have beaten stiff competition to be nominated. Tapas Revolution is up for Spanish Restaurant of the Year, and Omar has been nominated in the Personality of the Year category.
