Omar won the Weber BBQ Challenge at this year's Taste of London Festival, beating many of London's top BBQ chefs from The Savoy Grill, Maze Grill by Gordon Ramsay, Barbecoa by Jamie Oliver, Gaucho, and Spice Market, amongst others. The rules were simple; competitors had two hours to create a show-stopping dish of a whole chicken, a rack of lamb or a loin of pork. Omar's winning recipe was one of his mother's dishes, a whole roast chicken with artichokes and garlic peppers.
Omar is incredibly excited about the publication of his first book, Tapas Revolution, on August 15th with Ebury Press! This is a dream come true for Omar as it allows him to bring his passion for Spanish food into your lives and kitchens.
In true Tapas Revolution style, the book will focus on accessible Spanish cooking, keeping things simple with easy to follow recipes and uncomplicated ingredients that anyone can cook with. The book is packed with 120 recipes and dazzling photographs.

Omar will be at Toppings Bookstore in Bath on 12 September to talk about the book. Tickets cost £8, (£7 if collected on the day) and would also act as an advanced book deposit against a copy of the book, if guests choose to buy one. Omar will be talking about his upcoming book, as well as his career so far, from training under Ferran Adria of El Bulli fame, to opening two Tapas Revolution restaurants in 2010 and 2011.
